Building Hope Together | REACH NGO Annual Report 2019–2020

The Society for Rehabilitation, Education and Community Health (REACH) was registered as a non-profit organization with the Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Punjab, on 27 September 2003.
Since its founding, REACH has worked tirelessly to improve lives through education, healthcare, vocational training, and social support for widows, orphans, and low-income families.
Our vision remains to empower communities with knowledge, care, and self-reliance.

Lighting the Path for Rural Children

Education is at the heart of REACH’s mission. Two schools — one for boys and one for girls — provide free, quality education to children in rural areas.
In 2020, 918 students were enrolled, with admissions beginning at the Play Group level. Each year, around 100 new students join.

Encouragingly, more girls are now attending school than before, showing growing awareness about the importance of female education.
REACH also hosts 45 students from Gilgit-Baltistan, offering them free hostel facilities with meals and lodging.
Alongside academics, students study Islamic Studies and Arabic from nursery to class 12, and daily prayers are held at the school mosque.

Vocational Training for Skill Development

REACH believes in empowering youth through skills-based education. A Vocational Training Institute (VTI) was established in partnership with the Punjab Vocational Training Council (PVTC) in 2006, offering free training in stitching, dressmaking, computer education, home appliance repair, and automotive repair.

Due to transportation challenges, the institute was later shifted to Kahna Nao.
Today, REACH continues to train students in digital skills such as 3D modeling, SketchUp, and web design — helping them secure better job opportunities.
A Teacher Training Program also runs to prepare qualified educators for local schools.

Health and Nutrition for Every Child

A multi-purpose clinic was established at REACH to support students’ health needs. Although the in-house doctor passed away in 2011, partnerships with nearby hospitals continue to provide check-ups and emergency care.
A dental clinic, launched in 2017, remains active and provides free dental care to students.

REACH also led an anti-scabies campaign with the help of pharmaceutical partners, significantly reducing skin infections in the area.
To fight malnutrition, every student receives a free, nutritious lunch daily, ensuring they stay healthy and focused in school.

Creating Awareness for a Better Community

REACH continuously works to build awareness about rights, hygiene, and social responsibility among students and their families.
Teachers visit homes to educate parents on topics such as cleanliness, sanitation, and disease prevention.
In classrooms, young children learn daily hygiene habits like brushing teeth, washing hands, and cleaning faces — under teacher supervision.

These small steps create long-term community change by promoting healthy and responsible lifestyles.

Extending a Helping Hand to Those in Need

REACH supports the most vulnerable members of society — including widows, orphans, and poor families.

  • 150 widows receive monthly financial support.

  • 200+ students receive free uniforms, books, and shoes.

Through the Qarz-e-Hasna (interest-free loan) program, several students and teachers have been supported in pursuing higher education.
These efforts empower individuals to become independent and contribute positively to their communities.

Financial Transparency and Support System

REACH continues to operate through donations, mainly from REACH UK and local contributors who sponsor students or programs.
The organization has signed an MOU with the Ministry of Economic Affairs to streamline overseas funding.

It is also registered with the Punjab Charity Commission and undergoes a yearly audit by government-approved auditors.
For the reporting period, the audit was carried out by Messrs Amin Mudasar & Company, with results submitted to the Federal Board of Revenue by 31 December.
